Abstract

Given the lack of historical reconstruction for environmental psychology's development in Italy, this contribution sketches for the first time the essential evolution lines for the discipline across the most important Italian University. The author, on the basis of literature references and two focus groups with privilged witnesses, reconstruct four main phases: the Sixties; the Seventies; years 1980-1995 circa; years 1995- 2015 circa. The historical evolution is traced by recalling academic activity's main steps, by using some of the main exemplary events respectively regarding: scientific research, graduate and post-graduate teaching, third mission. In the final part, the main perspectival development lines are syntheticaly outlined for environmental psychology along those three tracks, by proposing two action lines for each of them.
