Abstract

The Death Anxiety Scale (DAS), the Beck Depression Inventory, the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory Form Y and the Social Desirability Scale were administered to a sample of 189 students. The purpose of this study is to investigate the contribution of the variables depression, state anxiety, trait anxiety and social desirability to the death anxiety variance, as it is measured by the DAS. Path analysis indicated that the four variables explain directly the 8.30% of the DAS variance. The most significant predictor variables are trait anxiety and social desirability.
