Abstract

This paper deals with the reflexes of the Latin agentive suffix -torem in Piedmontese. Six allomorphs will be taken into account, i.e. -or, -ator, -ador, -eur and -àire, the corpus under analysis being provided by two dictionaries of contemporary Piedmontese (by G. Gribaudo and C. Brero). Particular attention is devoted to the interplay between internal developments and sociolinguistic factors in a language contact perspective.
