Abstract

This essay summaryzes two collections of Lord Acton's writing that have recently been published in Italian. Lord Acton's interpretation of freedom and democracy, which modern revolutions have brought about, is Catholic and liberal at the same time. Indeed Lord Acton wrote that freedom, albeit a crucial force of history, is a concept that traspasses the limits and structurization of history itself.
