Abstract

The first part of the essay is characterized by a reconstructive approach that aims at defining the essential aspects of Agnes Heller's reflection about needs. Moving from these assumptions, the second part of the essay shows that some of the main categories of that reflection are the base for the distinction between "equal recognition" and "equal respect" that allows Heller to point out the possibility of a communication among different cultures.
