Abstract

The revolution determined by the advancement of biology in the last two centuries produces the crisis of the humanist conception of equality. The image of the Man loses its theological inheritage. The human species is now regarded as a possibility within the heredity of the Living. When we think that all living beings are nothing but ways of postponing death, we might assume that they are equal. The question to be asked, therefore, does not concern inequality, but difference.
