Abstract

In this article, I will examine some objections adduced against liberal and antipaternalistic theories. The idea of Kristol and Duff is that a coherent liberal, following the theories of Mill and Feinberg, cannot forbid the public battle of gladiators or the spectacle of death. This objection makes no sense and I will argument why. On the contrary, according to liberal theories, private sexual sadomasochistes relations between adults rational and free of coercion should be permitted.

Keywords
