Abstract

This article seeks to cast light on the relations between law and cultural diversity. It highlights the multifaceted nature of this relation, which crosses all fields of law and can be approached through a variety of perspectives. Part 1 argues that the debates on multiculturalism, which hold a prominent place in social sciences and political philosophy, are inadequate to capture the complexity of the issues raised by the phenomenon of cultural diversity in the legal domain. Accordingly, Part 2 proposes to start from the analysis of legal facts in order to highlight the main queries cultural diversity raises for the law in contemporary Europe.
