Abstract

In the proceedings of the last conference of the Società Italiana di Psicoanalisi (Rome, 1998) - a bulk of more than 400 pages - only 25 pages focus on the problem of the relationship between psychoanalysis and neurophysiology. Rossi takes this fact as a chance of mentioning Michel Jouvet's theory of dreams and Eric Kandel's views on apprehension and on the relation of mind and brain. With regard to this topic he seizes the opportunity of comparing the state of today's Italian psychoanalysis with the achievements of the previous decades.
