Abstract

Access to credit is one of the essential elements to support the growth and subsequent development of an agrarian system. This research aims to start an economic-institutional reflection on the «Monti frumentari», identifiable as possible first forms of rural microcredit, to analyse the causes that prevented the birth of a stable agrarian credit in liberal Italy.
