Abstract

The aim of the paper is to develop a new theoretical framework able to go beyond the «Northern» construction of the category of South and the «postcolonial» deconstructive reaction, towards a possible synthesis and alliance. The paper suggests that cities of the Souths are loci of integration, innovation and challenge. Current urbanization trends ask for a change of paradigm based on new models in the Souths of the world aimed at leading to the sustainable development goals that today are out of reach.
