Abstract

World history is considered one of the most innovative approaches to the analysis of the phenomena that affected mankind since the fifteenth century. However, its first theorizations were proposed in the aftermath of World War I, and the recently founded United Nations developed the first editorial project at the end of the Second World War. This article shortly analyzes the origins of the world history theories and the first attempts, in America and in Europe, to synthesize the history of the planet in one text.
