Abstract

A stroll in Rome or anywhere across the Italian countryside is enough to understand the extent of the environmental damage inflicted on our country. In the modern Eur neighbourhood in Rome buildings with no definite form and style have recently appeared. And the agricultural area fares no better. In Italy an environmental reform must consider the aesthetic effect, because the environment is above all a shape. It is the birth of an idea, the rise of a civilization for which usefulness is not all. This is what it was like, for the great Italian civilization, in the times past. Today, the environment is but a residue, a resource to be either used or protected.
