Abstract

The paper focuses on the misunderstanding sense of absolute ownership and private interest, that caused in Italy covering the period from 1880 to 1910 a propagandistic campaign against the laws of artistic preservation, and the consequent export of a great number of works of art, deprived of protective measures.
