Abstract

On occasion of the 80th anniversary of building the architectural complex "New City University of Rome", which was first inaugurated in October 1935, and within a cycle of three days long Celebrations and International Congress promoted by the Sapienza University of Rome («Le città universitarie del XX secolo e la Sapienza di Roma», 23-25 November 2017) the author was requested to give a Speech concerning the state of Philosophy, as it had been thought and taught at the time. In this overview the Italian philosopher Giovanni Gentile has a prominent role and other scholars both, they belonging to the previous tradition in Rome and his contemporaries are nevertheless considered.
