Abstract

In the present paper, I reflect on some oppositions between various ways in which stereotypes act on gender, or influence it, and thus limit the liberty of women. Of course, stereotypes make the life of many unconscious women simpler. However, are you really a human being, if you persist in living in your stereotyped education, or in an endeavor that do not consider your specific and peculiar singularity and individuality? Without consciousness, especially as a woman, living in this strange gendered normative world means to be unhappy. But it also means not to be fully yourself and not to develop all your potential cognitive abilities. I address this question theoretically, without renouncing to appeal to some concrete scientific experiments. Moreover, I will briefly try to show that the very concept of gender might be stereotypical.
