Abstract

We provide a commentary on the article entitled Psychopathology of Language, DMN and Embodied Neuroscience. A Unifying Perspective, by Antonio Pennisi (2022). The article analyzes the relationship between the psychopathology of language and the most recent neuroscience discoveries, trying to provide a unifying perspective of theoretical bases and pathophysiology of mental illness. The role of language in schizophrenia, the most emblematic and severe form of cognitive and linguistic pathological derangement, is discussed in detail. We critically reviewed the relevant points raised by the author in his comprehensive article. There are cues that language and subtypes of mental illness are phylogenetically and pathologically related.
