Abstract

In social sciences, the social construction of gender and the connected differences have long been discussed. These differences can be found especially inside the education system in which they turn into discrimination. For long time education has been considered a secondary good for women. But despite the achievements of the female students, gender stereotypes still influence the kind of studies that female students choose to pursue. Gender education can contribute to overcome this stereotypical vision. A case study has been realized in two Italian schools (one a public school and the other one a private catholic school) in order to analyzed how gender education is dealt with in Italian education system and how teachers in primary school approach this topic.
