Abstract

The comparison of Emanuele Severino’s thought with Christianity stretches from Studi di filosofia della prassi to La morte e la terra. In this paper, the theory of belief proposed by Severino at the beginning of the 1960s is first examined up to the progressive abandonment of a possible relationship of compatibility between philosophical thought and the Christian faith’s content. From this context emerges the unilaterality of Severino’s later analyses and the debt he contracted to idealism, but also the limits of the Thomist doctrine of the harmony of faith and reason
