Abstract

The essay recalls the scholarly activity of Luca Serianni, focusing on a particular aspect: his research on the seventeenth century, and above all on the language of Baroque writers. Among other things, some general characteristics of Serianni’s studies are highlighted, such as the attention to minor authors, considered indispensable for effectively reconstructing the literature of an era. Among the most interesting results of Serianni’s studies on the seventeenth century, is the identification of a rhetorical figure who had a certain fortune among the Baroque poets.
